The conservation of one the most important buildings in Norwich. Built in the 14th Century it is the only house on Elm Hill to survive a fire in Tudor times. The project involved the replacement of the thatched roof, the repair of the roof structure and the conservation of historic floorboards and plasterwork dating back to the 15th Century.

Working with the architect AMA assisted in the preparation of the tender documents and managed the costs during the construction period.

“I and my Practice have worked with James, Andrew and Dean on several, varied conservation-based projects including most recently the remarkable Grade II* Britons Arms Coffee House in Elm Hill, Norwich. AMA has always supported the Client and their professional team with sound cost advice and liaised closely with specialist contractors.

The completed 3-phase project at Britons Arms has been awarded an Norfolk Association of Architects Craftsmanship Award, recognition under the Historic England Heritage Angels scheme and most recently The Norwich Society s biennial Sir Bernard Feilden Conservation Award.

I would commend AMA to you without reservation.“
