The Project:

Conversion of an old cowshed into a bespoke timber framed family home. AMA provided cost advice, tender documentation and tender analysis for the client. The project incorporated the recycling of materials including reuse of foundations and masonry. The house benefits from super air tightness and insulation levels incorporating MVHR plus a ground source heat pump.

Winner of the Daily Telegraph renovation project of the year 2012. Chantry Barn combines respect for the historic structure with the creation of a striking contemporary home.


The Result:

We provided the full service from early stage cost planning to the agreement of the final account. This project created particular challenges with the contractor going into administration during the project. We guided the client and the architect through the process of the termination of the previous contractor’s employment and the procurement and appointment of a replacement contractor.

We were delighted to see this project on Grand Designs and are proud to have been involved.  AMA provided an elemental cost plan that the client's used to track actual expenditure against forecast.

Curve House

New build replacement dwelling and 2010 winner of Graham Allen Award for Conservation and Design. Although the design is very much of its time, it is still rooted in the area with its curved flint walls and stone dressings taking inspiration from local churches.

Appointed to negotiate the tender with a preferred Contractor and to value works in progress and advise on the forecast final account.

New build certified Passivhaus in London Fields

The Project:

This exciting project is believed to be the first Passivhaus using CLT form of construction in the UK.


AMA provided an initial cost plan and supported the Architect through analysis of trade packages which were then procured by the Client.


The house was designed by the Architect for his own use with the only source of heating being two towel rails.
